Claire Castell, born in England on 29 June 1960, has worked full-time as a sculptor and painter since 2019 and lives in Pietrasanta, Tuscany. Since October 2021, she has been based primarily at Tre Luci Studios, collaborating with local artisan workshops on works in marble, bronze, and ceramics.
Inspired by a lifelong interest in spirituality and mysticism, and a practitioner of taiji since 2004, Claire seeks to express fluidity, strength, softness, and movement in her art. While marble is her primary medium, she also works with clay, concrete, bronze, and other materials. As a painter, she mainly uses oil on canvas or wood. Her work begins with a vision that evolves naturally through the creative process.
